Risk Committee Chairs Forum

In our outreach work and the public consultation exercise undertaken in developing Raising the Bar, we found that Chairs of Board Risk Committees faced particular challenges in leading their Committees. Whilst Raising the Bar provided them with guidance on what ‘good’ looks like for a Board Risk Committee, there has not been an established and effective forum at which they could exchange views confidentiality and in an open way.

To meet this need, in 2022, the Risk Coalition established the Risk Committee Chairs Forum.

Purpose of the forum

The Risk Coalition’s Risk Committee Chairs Forum has been set up as a professional forum for risk committee chairs (or equivalent) to:

  1. discuss and learn from each other and from outside experts

  2. exchange views and share experiences, and

  3. network with other highly experienced ‘risk-focused’ non-executive directors.

The Forum’s terms of reference can be found here.

Events

The Forum holds regular roundtables for Risk Committee Chairs under the Chatham House Rule. We summarise discussions in our Risk Coalition blogs.

Follow the Risk Coalition’s LinkedIn page for updates.

Emerging thinking, best practice ideas and new initiatives will be shared more widely through blogs and webinars in future.

If you are a Risk (or Audit & Risk) Committee Chair and would like to find out more about our Chatham House Rule roundtable events and webinars, please let us know. (Please provide us with some background information about yourself.)

Blogs

The Risk Coalition publishes regular blog posts on risk-related topics, which include blog posts that will be of interest to Risk Committee Chairs.

All our blogs can be found here.
